TIME WARP

The people who work here are some of the friendliest and nicest people you will ever encounter. They make you want to be their friends.

They’re going to have wrinkles early on in life because of how big their smiles are all the time.

This was our first time at Time Escape, and the people here are so friendly and cheery! Every time we asked for a hint, our gamemaster was just so happy and encouraging.

The innovativeness of the puzzles here was on point. There were both low-tech and high-tech puzzles, and each and every one of them was new and unique to Time Warp, both in terms of concept and execution.

Admittedly we had a hard time figuring things out at the start because our brains were just so used to the usual number- and letter-lock combinations. Once we got going though, we found momentum. In terms of progression, they do a solid job of stacking the back half of the room with the easier puzzles so you get that sense of urgency. We just opened locks one after the other–boom boom boom.

Overall, if you’re an escape room pro looking to solve puzzles outside the norm, this (and any other room at Time Warp) is for you.

This room had very different puzzles from what we had done before, which was really great to see! I think that this room incorporated searching puzzles really nicely, because it was always clear what you were searching for.

One thing that was a bit strange was how often the room just gave you a bunch of things, and then it was up to you to figure what things were relevant now, and what things you couldn’t use yet. This room really tests your ability to connect clues to some aspect of the room.

There were several portions to this room. One was very futuristic and the other was still very appropriately time-travel-y. One thing I appreciate about Time Warp is how painstakingly detailed their rooms are (see our reviews for Imperial Palace and Castle Secrets).

I would’ve given this a 10 had it not been for the location of their centrepiece. I thought this grand piece of prop just sitting there was jarring. It would’ve been nice had it been revealed only when it was relevant.

This room was appropriately shiny and very futuristic looking. I liked how the walls go up to the roof since sometimes there are rooms that have that area left undecorated.

I didn’t necessarily feel like I was in a time machine. As a matter of fact, I don’t even know if I was supposed to be in a time machine, or just a room with a time machine. Regardless, I was still immersed throughout the 45 minutes thanks to the music and how the puzzles worked my brain.

I was immersed by virtue of the puzzles and their novelty. I also appreciated the music – it kind of made me feel like I was in Star Wars or Back to the Future.

I don’t know what Ben is talking about below, but I had never encountered a time travel theme until this one. I thought the puzzles were smartly ordered so that what we were doing coincided with our mission. (First assemble the time machine, then travel back in time.)

I also appreciated how it wasn’t just futuristic, but also past-istic (as in, they also took into account the past). It’s easy to just go and do the sci-fi route, so incorporating the entire timeline was genius.

Time travel doesn’t seem like a super unique theme, but what I loved was how they executed the theme through the puzzles. The puzzle progression was really well done and I loved how incredibly thematically relevant the last puzzle was.

This room gets a #platinum from me (Time Escape’s been 3 out of 3 platinums for me). With distinct puzzles, a futuristic look, and well-executed theme, I highly recommend this room.
