This was our first time at GTFO. The lobby was welcoming and bright. The staff were smiley and enthusiastic. And cookies. There were free cookies. |
|
BEN
The staff here are awesome! Super friendly and welcoming people. There’s also free water and cookies in the lobby, as well as some board games and some console games to play while you’re waiting! Lastly, if you escape, you get a polaroid of your team with your time on it! |

Puzzles | PAULIE
The puzzles were challenging, but totally solvable. We didn’t feel stuck or frustrated on any particular ones. I docked a point off because some of them felt out of place. |
|
BEN
The puzzles here were great! Not too hard, not too easy. I loved how rewarding finishing a puzzle was – it really keeps the momentum going! |

Look | PAULIE
The clinical look of this room was totally on point and made us feel like we were in an asylum. Kudos to whoever decided that parties will be separated as soon as they entered the room. I docked a point off because the succeeding rooms did not feel asylum-y. |
|
BEN
There was great attention to detail here – asylums aren’t the most exciting places in terms of decor, but the team at GTFO did a great job making the place look convincing. |

Immersion | PAULIE
Usually when an escape room is horror-themed, fear dissipates after the first few minutes when you slowly become used to your surroundings. I was about to give this a 10 because I was scared shitless when we first entered. That level of fear stayed consistent throughout the room. However, I wish they could find a way to provide clues without entering the room and breaking the feeling of immersion, like what they do at Logic Lock. Every time we asked for a clue, someone in a GTFO uniform entered the room which took us out of the experience. |

BEN
We brought some friends with us to this room, and there was a lot of screaming. The atmosphere was consistently creepy and it definitely motivated us to get out of that room ASAP! |
||
Theme | PAULIE
This was a horror-themed room well-done. Some of the puzzles were not loyal to the theme and felt out of place, but the execution itself was great. |
|
BEN
Not a super unique theme, but the execution was great! Mostly everything (music, look, puzzles, story) was true to the asylum theme. |

Overall | PAULIE
I would give this room a #platinum rating. I would recommend this room, especially to those who love a good scare! |
|
BEN
I would give this room a #diamond rating. Bring friends who get spooked easily for an extra fun time! |
